Publishers - Short Fiction

Here you will find a list of journals, magazines, and e-zines (online magazines) that publish fantasy writers. Please let me know if I have missed any that you would like to see here.

Please also visit each publisher's site to read full details on their guidelines.

Quick notes:

  • Publishers that do not specify which countries they take submissions from - I would assume that these publishers would accept international submissions but it is always best to check with them before submitting your work
  • Publishers that do not specify their submission periods - it could be assumed that these publishers are open to submissions all year round but, again, it is always best to check with them before submitting your work
  • Publishers that no longer accept submissions may re-open in the future
  • A review period is how long a publisher will take to confirm their acceptance or rejection of any work submitted to them
  • A submission period is the length of time a publisher is open to submissions for
  • Some publishers of shorter fiction will pay contributors for accepted submissions

I have also included a list of publishers that no long appear to accept submissions as they are still noteable for reading material.

My aim is to keep this list updated for each publisher, however, I may not be able to do this as often as I would like. Therefore, please do check each publishers’ website before submitting.
