Days 15 to 20 - Checking in and reporting for duty!
I haven’t posted in a few days so wanted to do a little update on what I have been up to.
For those interested in the submission I mentioned in my previous post, ‘Day 14 - First to know alert" Sound the alarm; this is not a drill ....‘, I am still waiting to hear from the publication. They did advise me that the waiting period to receive their decision is three months, so I’ll keep sitting here with my fingers crossed until then!
Apart from regularly checking my emails (probably a lot more than I usually do in the hope that the publication has replied early), working my day job, and a whole load of other things within my personal life (like getting my hair dyed my favourite colour: dark purple!), I have been working on a different novel project. This is the same project I mentioned in my previous post, ‘Day 12 - I’m back from summer Camp (NaNo)! Time to unpack ...‘:
‘During the last month, I got reacquainted with one of my old fantasy novel projects and am almost at the stage when I can continue writing the first draft. I’m pretty excited about working on that project again!’
I will talk about this novel in more detail in a separate post over the next few weeks, but for now I will say that it is a Fantasy Quest novel with a little twist. I have also been reading a book called The Salem Witch Society by K.N. Shields, which I have been enjoying immensely. This is the second time I am reading this book, and it is still just as good.
My plans for this journal over the next couple of weeks will be to work on my current novel project then release a post all about it for you; I will also continue reading and announce my book review plans, strategy, etc in time for my first book review post; and, finally, I shall research into, and create a list of, as many magazines/journals/publishers of fantasy short stories, novellas, and novels as I can find (including all subgenres, if possible) to share with you. Plenty for you to check back in for!
I am looking forward to continuing my journey, both as a writer and as a growing ‘expert’, as this month progresses!
